Endpointing
WHAT IT MEANS
How long the AI waits in silence before deciding the caller is done speaking.
Real example
It waits 0.6 seconds of silence, then replies.
What’s normal
Usually about 300–800 milliseconds. Too short cuts people off. Too long feels slow.
The India angle
Older callers, and calls in a second language, need slightly longer waits.
Questions to ask your vendor
What is your default wait time?
Can it change based on the question, e.g. longer when asking for a number?
Can we adjust it ourselves?
