Guardrails

Guardrails

WHAT IT MEANS

Rules that stop the AI from saying or doing things it shouldn’t.

Real example

Never quote an interest rate. Never discuss competitors. Transfer to a human if the customer is upset.

What’s normal

A must in BFSI and healthcare, usually a mix of prompt rules and automated checks.

The India angle

Recovery calls must follow RBI conduct rules: no threats, no harassment, and respect for calling hours.

Questions to ask your vendor

  1. What guardrails come built in?

  2. Can we add our own compliance rules?

  3. What happens when a guardrail is triggered?
