WHAT IT MEANS
Speech-to-text, also called automatic speech recognition. It turns the caller’s voice into text the AI can read.
Real example
“Mera policy number 4521 hai” becomes text.
What’s normal
It’s very accurate on clean English audio, and noticeably weaker on phone calls, accents and mixed languages.
The India angle
Indian phone calls are often low quality, noisy and in Hinglish. Global STT models often struggle here, while Indian STT vendors focus on it.
Questions to ask your vendor
What’s your accuracy on real Indian phone calls, not clean audio?
Which Indian languages do you support in production?
Can we test it on our own call recordings?
