Open-source, self-hosted voice assistant platform that runs on low-cost ESP32-S3-BOX hardware.
Willow turns Espressif ESP32-S3-BOX devices, which cost about $50, into private Echo-style assistants with wake word detection, voice activity detection and far-field audio processing. Commands go to Home Assistant, openHAB or any REST endpoint. It can recognize up to 400 commands on the device itself, or send speech to the open-source Willow Inference Server for speech recognition, text-to-speech and LLM tasks, with a Willow Application Server to manage devices. The project says it completes a command in 500 ms or less after speech ends and can run on a network with no internet access. It is fully open source and built by Tovera, Inc.
