FastRTC, from the Gradio team at Hugging Face, turns any Python function into a real-time audio or video stream. Developers get built-in voice activity detection and turn taking, automatic Gradio and FastAPI mounting, and WebSocket endpoints for custom frontends. Its fastphone method even provisions a temporary phone number for testing voice apps. The library is MIT-licensed and installs with pip, with optional extras for VAD and text-to-speech.
