Issen builds an AI realtime voice companion for language learning. The on-demand voice tutor adapts lessons and conversations to the learner's skill level, interests, learning style, and goals, from focused grammar work to open-ended chat. A custom voice pipeline combines speech recognition, text-to-speech, LLMs, and long-term memory with interruptions and turn-taking. Issen went through Y Combinator's Fall 2024 batch and charges $20 to $29 per month after a free trial.
