CrankGPT delivers an AI voice assistant from a hand-cranked, fully offline device built by Squeez Labs. Turning the crank powers a Raspberry Pi 5 that runs speech recognition, a local language model and text-to-speech, with no battery, internet or cloud. Its local stack combines Moonshine ASR, Silero voice detection, Gemma 3 and LFM2 via llama.cpp, and Piper TTS. It is a demonstration project with build details published online.
